The device has an internal relational program management database to generate a graphical display of menu pages providing overviews of program information (2) of program service providers (3) and corresponding broadcasting time. A remote control transmitter allows browsing of program information and the corresponding broadcasting time, and allows selection of programs by numeric entry in the remote control transmitter. Test equipment checks the selected programs and corresponding broadcast time with the program management database, to generate a customized menu page for a viewer.
