An induction rotating machine comprises: a stator having a plurality of stator slots (114) formed in a circumferential direction of a stator core (111) at predetermined intervals, the stator slots (114) housing a stator winding (120); and a rotor (130) in which a plurality of rotor bars (132) extending in an axial direction of a rotor core (111) are provided in a circumferential direction at predetermined intervals and a pair of end rings for short-circuiting the rotor bars (132) at the axial-direction end portions are provided. A shape at the stator side end portion of a cross-sectional shape of the rotor bars (132) in a plane orthogonal to a rotor axial direction is made asymmetrical with respect to a radius direction axial line passing through the rotor axial core and the axial core of the rotor bars (132). For example, a cutout (133) is formed at the stator side end portion of the rotor bars (132) and at a position shifted toward the rotational rear side with respect to the radius direction axial line.
