IMAGE FORMING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of suppressing power consumption of a fixing unit by switching the presence/absence of lighting of the center lamp/side lamps in accordance with a toner fixing position of a printed image.

SOLUTION: An image forming device includes: a storage part for storing the read-in image data; a determination part for determining in which area of a printing medium the toner forming an image is distributed by referring to the image data stored in the storage part; a fixing unit having a plurality of fixing lamps independent from each other; a control part in which fixing operation is performed by lighting the fixing lamp corresponding to the area determined that the toner is distributed in, out of the plurality of the fixing lamps of the fixing unit on the basis of a determination result in the determination part.
