<p>A method of cutting an optical fiber easily on site such that its end face after being cut slants with respect to its optical axis A twist is applied to at least a portion of the optical fiber. A notch is formed in the coating and the fiber of the optical fiber at the cutting position, and an external force is applied to the optical fiber and cuts the optical fiber at the cutting position. The cutting device includes an optical fiber fixing means that fixes the optical fiber on one side of the cutting position of the optical fiber, optical fiber rotating means that fixes the optical fiber on its other side such that the optical fiber may freely rotate, and a blade that places the notch in the coating and the glass fiber.</p> |
