<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital light emitting element writing device that faithfully recognizes line drawing in one pixel unit by simultaneously taking pixels of horizontal and vertical scanning which surround a pixel of interest from a storing function, and carrying out data identification to the pixel of interest. <P>SOLUTION: Matrix determination is made in order to the pixels of vertical scanning third line of the attention line. The pixel 101 of horizontal scanning 5 can be determined as a vertical line from a matrix. When carrying out code conversion of binary data into four values here, the data is determined whether an odd-numbered pixel or an even-numbered pixel, and if determined as the odd number of a vertical pattern, the pixel 101 becomes 01b code. Further the pixel 102 is determined as an odd number of a horizontal line, and becomes 11b code, the pixel 103 is an odd number of zero data and is 00b code, the pixel 104 is determined as an even number of one dot isolated point, and becomes 10b code, and the pixel 105 is determined as an even number of a slanting line, and becomes 11b code.
