PURPOSE: Transparent layer isolation is provided to prevent light emitted from a light emitter contacting an optical sensor by including an overhanging portion which is expanded from an isolation barrier to the light emitter. CONSTITUTION: A proximity sensing device(100) comprises a light emitter(104) which is built in a first transparent layer(128) and an optical sensor(106) which is built in a second transparent layer(126). A substrate(120) supports the optical sensor and the light emitter. An isolation barrier(124) builds an opaque barrier between the first transparent layer and the second transparent layer. An insulating layer includes an overhanging portion(129) which is expanded from the isolation barrier to the light emitter. An outer circumferential isolator(122) isolates the optical sensor and the light emitter from surrounding light sources.
