PURPOSE: A composition containing eel extract is provided to suppress COX-2 dependent prostaglandin D2(PGD2) generation and to prevent and treat inflammatory or allergic diseases. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating inflammatory diseases contains eel extract as an active ingredient. The extract is prepared from eel skin, bone, intestine, or muscle using ethanol, hexane, ethyl acetate, butanol, or water. The extract is an eel hexane fraction prepared by extracting eel with ethanol, dissolving the extract with water, and extracting with hexane.
