<p>PURPOSE: A multiple type air conditioner and a method for controlling thereof are provided to prevent the inhomogeneity operation of a plurality of indoor units being connected to specific pipe ports of distributors and to confirm individually or together information of the distributors, the pipe port, and the indoor units. CONSTITUTION: A multiple type air conditioner comprises an outdoor unit(10), distributors(20,30), and a plurality of indoor units(51 to 57). The distributors are connected to the outdoor units and comprise a plurality of pipe ports. The plurality of indoor units is connected to the distributors. One or more pipe ports among a plurality of the pipe ports are connected to two or more indoor units so that the two or more indoor units form an indoor unit group.
