A printing press comprising a printing plate or cylinder bearing wet ink at its surface within a predetermined area to be transferred onto a sheet or web, thereby imprinting a corresponding area of said sheet or web, said printing press further comprising a laser marking device directing a laser beam onto said printing plate or cylinder to evaporate wet ink from said printing plate or cylinder, wherein the location of said laser marking device is selected so that said laser beam hits said predetermined area of the wet inked surface of said printing plate or cylinder just before said area of said printing plate or cylinder contacts said sheet or web. |
