The invention relates to a device (1) for the on-demand sealing of an opening (9) provided in the frontal region of a track-guided vehicle. To this end, the device (1) comprises a sealing member (2) of variable size and a frame (3) for supporting said sealing member (2). The frame (3) together with the sealing member (2) affixed thereto enclose an area (4) through which the coupling shaft (12) of a central buffer coupling (11) can be guided. The sealing member (2) is controllable such that the size of the area covered by said sealing member (2) can be varied.
