PURPOSE: A method for improving characteristics of a plant for production yield is provided to control nucleic acid expression in a plant. CONSTITUTION: A method for improving characteristics of a plant for production yield comprises a step of controlling the expression of a nucleic acid which encodes a CLC-like polypeptide in a plant. The polypeptide contains Voltage_CLC domain(Pfam entry PF00654) and C-terminal CBS domain(Pfam entry PF00571). The CLC-like polypeptide contains one or more of motifs 1-8(sequence numbers 83-90) or one or more motifs of sequence numbers 492-503. The nucleic acid is operatively linked to an Oriza sativa-derived GOS2 promoter. A gene construct contains a nucleic acid encoding the CLC-like polypeptide; one or more regulatory sequences which induce the expression of the nucleic acid sequence; and selectively contains a transcription termination sequence.
