PURPOSE: A novel benzo dithiophene-based derivative is provided to improve photoelectric conversion efficiency and thermal and optical stability and to prevent aggregation of dye molecules. CONSTITUTION: A benzo dithiophene derivative is denoted by chemical formula 1. The derivative of chemical formula 1 is 2-cyano-3-{5-[6-(4-diphenylamino-phenyl)-4,8-bis-(2-ethyl-hexyloxy)-1,5-dithia-s-indacene-2-yl]-thiophene-2-yl}-acrylic acid. A method for preparing the derivative of chemical formula 1 comprises: a step of alkylation of halogenated alkyl with compound 2 to prepare a compound 3; and a step of treating compound 3 with bromine to prepare a compound 4; a step of reaction of chemical formula 4 with compound 5 to prepare compound 6; a step of reaction of compound 6 with trimethyltin chloride to prepare compound 7; a step of reaction of compound 7 with compound 8 to prepare compound 9; a step of treating the compound 9 and piperidine with acid.
