The roller (1) comprises a metallic core (2) with an elastomeric coating (3) material, and a layer (4) of plastic interface between the metal core and the elastomeric material. The interface layer of synthetic material is a complex formed from a resin and a glass fiber. The complex resin/glass fiber layer extends to all or part of the peripheral parts of the metal core made of non-coated elastomer material. An independent claim is included for a process for fabricating a roll containing a metallic core.
