The closure has a closing pin (2) axially and rotatably supported at an equipment housing, and a bar element arranged at a door and provided with a retainer (5). The retainer is supported such that relative motion i.e. relative twist, is caused by movement of a door handle (1) between the retainer and the closing pin. The closing pin exhibits a position at which the door is released by grip movement. The equipment housing is provided with a rotating mechanism for the closing pin. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a cooking device.
