INFORMATION DISPLAY DEVICE AND INFORMATION DISPLAY METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information display device and an information display method where a solar cell is provided in a display device having a plurality of light-emitting elements arrayed therein to display information and the power generated at the time when the elevation angle of the sun is small in morning, the late afternoon, or the like is utilized to increase brightness of a display surface.

SOLUTION: An information display device includes: a display panel 7 which displays information on a display surface having light-emitting elements arrayed therein; a power generation unit 20 which generates power by a solar cell where the light receiving surface is provided substantially in the same direction as or the opposite direction to the display surface of the display panel 7; a power source unit 2 which uses the power supplied from the power generation unit 20 as auxiliary power to supply power to the display panel; and a control unit 5 which controls display. The control unit 5 performs such control that brightness of the display surface is increased when the amount of power generation in the power generation unit 20 is equal to or larger than a prescribed value. The brightness is increased without the increase of consumption of commercial power by switching from display of lighting light-emitting elements constituting characters and the like to be displayed to display of lighting more light-emitting elements.
