OPTICAL FILM MANUFACTURING METHOD, POLARIZER, AND IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient method for continuously manufacturing an optical film, which prevents from a resin remaining in a mold, causing no failure such as defects.

SOLUTION: An optical film manufacturing method includes the steps of: applying a coating liquid containing an active energy ray-curable resin onto a continuously conveyed base film 11 so as to form a coating layer; and curing the coating layer through exposure to active energy rays through the base film 11 in a state that the surface of a mold is in press contact with the surface of the coating layer. In the applying step, the coating liquid is applied such that the rising edge of the coating layer in a top area of the coating layer has a thickness thinner than 4 μm after the curing step.
