<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform charge control capable of enhancing the service life of a battery while preventing battery depletion during the usual travel of an electric vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: Usage histories of the electric vehicle 10 on each day of the week are recorded, and the usage pattern of an electric vehicle 10 related to the amount of power consumption of a battery 13 on each day of the week is extracted from the usage histories of the vehicle in a predetermined period. When the electric vehicle 10 goes home after one day's operation and is connected to a charger 18, a charge determination unit 30 predicts a usage pattern of the vehicle on the next day and checks whether the vehicle can operate on the next day with the remaining capacity of a battery 13 in the vehicle. When it is determined that the charging of the battery 13 is necessary, the battery 13 is charged until it reaches the target remaining capacity determined on the basis of the amount of power consumption in the predicted usage pattern so that the full charge is prevented and the number of times of charging is reduced in the future as much as possible. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
