<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately perform adjustment such as color matching in a short time even if there is a flaw or the like on an intermediate transfer body in an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: By irradiating an intermediate transfer body with light, a characteristic point such as a flaw on the intermediate transfer body is detected by reflected light and stored as characteristic point information. When the characteristic point is effectively removed by forming an inspection image pattern on the characteristic point, the inspection image pattern in color with which the characteristic point can be most effectively removed is formed on the characteristic point. Space and width of the inspection image pattern are changed as necessary. Alternatively, the inspection image pattern is formed by avoiding the characteristic point. If the characteristic point cannot be removed or avoided, it is determined that the intermediate transfer belt cannot be used. Even if there is the flaw on the intermediate transfer body, adjustment processing is accurately performed in a short time in a similar manner as a case where there is no flaw. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
