<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding door device that can reduce the thickness of a lower rail. <P>SOLUTION: A sliding door device comprises: a sliding door having a door roller 5 in the lower part; and a lower rail 3 on which the door roller 5 travels. The door roller 5 has a large-diameter portion 50 that is inserted into an upper opening groove 30 formed in the lower rail 3, and small-diameter portions 51 and 51 that are arranged on both outsides of the large-diameter portion 50 so as to pinch it between them, and formed so as to travels on the travel surface 31 of the lower rail 3. The groove 30 is formed so that the open side 30a is narrower than the bottom side 30b.
