<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water treatment apparatus which does not require UV irradiation means in large numbers and can treat large amounts of water in a short time. <P>SOLUTION: A ballast water treatment apparatus 12 includes a ballast water treatment container 15 having a ballast water inlet 13 and a ballast water outlet 14, two or more UV lumps 16 arranged in the ballast water treatment container 15 and a sponge-like filter 17. The filter 17 has a thickness in the water flowing direction, a portion impermeable to plankton in its upstream and a portion permeable to plankton in its downstream, and the mesh, or openings, are changed continuously in such a way as to be dense in the upstream and coarse in the downstream of the water flow. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
