<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device allowing a user to view a digital image easily without owning a personal computer and a display device, adjust the brightness of display according to the brightness of the surroundings, and make it easy to view the display. <P>SOLUTION: An image display device 1 includes: a control microcomputer 42 for reading image information from a memory card 12; an image processing block 43 for subjecting the image information to image signal processing to generate an image signal; a display unit 4 for display the image signal; and a photosensor for detecting the brightness of the surroundings.
