PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing nanoparticles of lithium titanate, which can obtain particles of fine particles at a low cost.

SOLUTION: There is provided the method for producing monoclinic lithium titanate including a hydrothermal process in which titanium oxide is brought into contact with lithium hydroxide for hydrothermal treatment.
