<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote surface survey device capable of easily transferring the surface shape of a structure having a complicated curved surface at a location difficult for a person to directly access to a replica for observing the surface shape, without formation of a sealed space; a remote surface survey method; or an underwater remote surface survey method for a structure in a nuclear reactor. <P>SOLUTION: In sampling the replica of the surface shape of a structure, a gap is formed along a specimen surface, so that a replica agent is supplied in the gap. The formation of the gap allows the replica agent to be retained in the gap due to the surface tension of the replica agent.
