<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent method for treating heavy metal-containing waste liquid and a heavy metal remover for treating the waste liquid capable of effectively removing heavy metal (especially hexavalent chromium) at a low cost with the usage of a seaweed ingredient and a seashell ingredient. <P>SOLUTION: An adsorbent constituted by a burned product of seaweed and a seashell flocculating/precipitating agent are sequentially or simultaneously added into the treating waste liquid containing heavy metal and are stirred. Seaweed of the burned product of the seaweed is at least one kind selected from Chlorophyceae, Rhodophyceae or Phaeophyceae, the seaweed of the Phaeophyceae is Order Laminariales, Family Alariaceae or Order Laminariales, Family Laminariaceae, and the at least one kind is selected from Undaria pinnatifida, or Undaria undarioides of Order Laminariales, Family Alariaceae, or Ecklonia cava of Order Laminariales, Family Laminariaceae.
