ELECTRONIC KEY, IC CARD, AND REGISTRATION AND AUTHENTICATION METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient and safe technique other than a personal code number so as to enhance the security level of an IC card such as a cash card while security of a card user depends almost upon his personal code number at present although the IC card is increasing in importance and while there are not so many people who approve of use of biometric authentication for cash cards since biological information is ultimate personal information although the biometric authentication is being introduced recently.

SOLUTION: A double authentication system which uses an IC card and an electronic key is constructed by registering in the IC card the electronic key having an information processing function which can be registered in the IC card only when a reader writer terminal device used for personal authentication authenticates a connected IC card as a right IC card.
