<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication system capable of improving operability. <P>SOLUTION: In a radio communication system, when a Bluetooth communication section 20 of a portable terminal 2 requests a connection to its surrounding search area, a Bluetooth connection is established between the Bluetooth communication section 20 of the portable terminal 2 and a Bluetooth communication section 10 of an on-vehicle machine 1 existing inside the search area among the on-vehicle machines 1 of a plurality of vehicles C1 to C5 to be a connection destination of the portable terminal 2. Thus, radio communication becomes available between the on-vehicle machine 1 and the portable terminal 2.
