<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To configure a cold air generation apparatus by utilizing high cooling action in the case that water is evaporated on the surface of a porous member with the diatomaceous earth of a high-moisture absorbing/releasing property as a raw material. <P>SOLUTION: A cooling container 21 is filled with a number of porous members with the diatomaceous earth as a raw material and water is sprinkled from sprinklers 27, 28. Each of the porous members has an infinite conglomerated body shape and numerous gaps are present in a filling area. By operating a fan 10 to circulate air from a meshed bottom plate 22 to an output end of an air blowing pipe 33, water is evaporated on the surface of the porous member and high cooling efficiency is achieved in the overall filling area.
