<p>The invention relates to a method for cylinder use, whereby a bi-functional cylinder (1) is being used in a hydraulic circuit by a pump arrangement (2), such as a fixed displacement pump or like, by producing plus and minus movements of the cylinder (1) by a first valve arrangement (3), such as a directional control valve or like. In this case in the plus movement first of all constant control is being exploited in order to produce a first movement speed by introducing hydraulic fluid by a volume flow produced by the pump arrangement (2) behind (mt) the piston (la) and by removing fluid correspondingly from the front (em) of the piston to a hydraulic fluid container (6), whereby on the other hand differential control is being exploited in order to produce an increased movement speed by guiding hydraulic fluid, which is to be removed from the front (me) of the piston (la), behind (mt) the piston (la) by a second valve arrangement (4). In the use of the cylinder (1) furthermore a third valve arrangement (5) is being exploited, by means of which furthermore a third increased movement speed of to the plus movement of the cylinder (1) is produced by leading hydraulic fluid into a workspace (lc) in a piston stem (lb), the workspace increasing efficient surface area of the piston (la).
