<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the erroneous detection of a residual toner amount in such a state that toner does not exist in a toner supply container. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a developing device 14 developing an electrostatic latent image formed on a photosensitive drum 11 on the basis of image data with toner, a toner supply container 115 supplying the toner to the developing device 14, a residual toner amount detection part 104 detecting the presence or absence of the toner 116 in the toner supply container 115, and an ASIC 102 counting a number of dots corresponding to the image data. The image forming apparatus further includes a CPU 101 calculating the integrated value of the number of dots counted by the ASIC 102 and a CPU 101 stopping an image forming operation (S10), when it is determined that the toner 116 is present in the toner supply container 115 on the basis of the detection result by the residual toner amount detection part 104 (S4 Y) and it is determined that the integrated value of the number of dots calculated by the CPU 101 exceeds a predetermined value (S5 N). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
