<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin-type backlight unit that can achieve a wider color gamut and higher contrast. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight unit is to be provided with a plurality of light guide plates 1, an LED group, and a reflecting part. Each of the plurality of light guide plates 1 includes an emission face, side faces, a bottom face opposed to the emission face, and an incident part fitted in the vicinity of an end part of the bottom face, facing the side faces with each other. The LED group includes a plurality of LEDs each fitted in the vicinity of the incident part for emitting light of R, G, or B color toward each corresponding incident part, and emits all colors of R, G, B. The reflecting part, fitted at the bottom face, reflects mixed-color light mixed inside the light guide plate toward an emission face side to be emitted from the emission face. Further, the incident part has a concave part 1f fitted for diffusing incident light so that light emitted from the LED to be incident at the incident part is to be mixed inside the light guide plate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
