<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a burden of producing an LUT which is used in a printer adapted to perform printing by using a color ink and a special glossy ink. <P>SOLUTION: In a method of manufacturing a printer adapted to perform printing on a printing medium by using a color ink and a special glossy ink, an output value of the special glossy ink is first determined in accordance with a characteristic of a printing medium. Next, a duty limit value obtained by totalizing duty limit values of the special glossy ink and the color ink is determined in accordance with the characteristic of the printing medium. Next, a second LUT which is an already-existing LUT in which at least the output value of the color ink is determined, is prepared, and then a first LUT is formed in such a manner that the color output value of the color ink of the first LUT is determined in accordance with the divergence between an output value of the special glossy ink when the second LUT is used and the determined output value of the special glossy ink and the divergence between a duty limit value when the second LUT is used and the determined duty limit value.
