<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure in which a column-side bracket is supported relative to a vehicle-side bracket with consistent and sufficiently high rigidity. <P>SOLUTION: A vehicle body side bracket 10c and an engagement capsule 11e fixed to a column side bracket 13a are joined in a separable manner during a secondary collision by synthetic resin-made engagement pins 45a, 45a. Recessed parts 56a, 56a with one end thereof being connected to small through holes 19b, 19b receiving the engagement pins 45a, 45a and with the another end thereof being opened to an external space side are formed in a lower side of the vehicle body side bracket 10c.
