<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a servo burst pattern that avoids problems, such as positioning difficulty of a magnetic head resulting from a dead band and a positioning error due to eccentricity of a hard disk drive in a magnetic recorder using Shingled recording. <P>SOLUTION: A servo pattern for positioning a magnetic head is provided in the case of recording and reproducing data by the magnetic head on/from a magnetic storage medium by a Shingled recording system. When write width of the magnetic head is defined as W and read width thereof is defined as R, the number n of pairs of burst signals whose phases are deviated from each other by 180 degree is n=(W-(W mod R))/R+1, where W mod R represents a remainder obtained by dividing W by R, and respective pairs of burst signals are arranged while deviating phases from each other by only 180/n degree. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
