A differential demodulation device (100) comprises: a delay unit (102) which delays an input signal by a prescribed time and treats same as a delayed signal; a comparison unit (103) which computes one or more physical quantities which denote differences between the delayed signal and one or more reference element signals; a selection unit (104) which selects, as a comparison signal, a reference element signal which is used in the computation of one physical quantity from the one or more physical quantities with the smallest absolute value; and a differential demodulation unit (101) which carries out the demodulation of the input signal with a phase difference between the input signal and the comparison signal. Each of the reference element signals is updated by comparing at least a portion of the one or more physical quantities.
