PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion detector which can select and detect states of a plurality of motions without requiring switching of detection modes.

SOLUTION: A motion detector 2 includes: a Doppler signal detection circuit 13 which radiates an electromagnetic wave signal to an object to acquire a Doppler signal; logarithmic amplifiers 14, 15 which amplify the Doppler signal; an AD conversion circuit 16 which samples the Doppler signal with a predetermined sampling frequency to perform AD conversion; an FFT processing circuit 17 which executes FFT processing to the Doppler signal; and a motion detection circuit 20 which detects motions of the object from the Doppler signal. The motion detection circuit 20 calculates amplitude or power and a phase of the Doppler signal, repeats selection of a state of the motion of the object, and selective setting of the sampling frequency to the AD conversion circuit 16 according to the selected state of the motion, and acquires the Doppler signal including different frequency components according to states of a plurality of motions.
