<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder which can continue recording even if light-emitting elements such as LEDs fail during recording. <P>SOLUTION: The recorder includes a light irradiation section having the rows of light emitting elements which are made by lining up the light-emitting elements causing a photoreactive liquid to chemically change by irradiating with light the photoreactive liquid discharged onto paper in the same direction as the rows of nozzles, a failure detection section detecting the failure of each of the light-emitting elements forming each of the rows of light-emitting elements, and a control section controlling the recording executing actions by the recording head and actions of the light irradiation section. The light irradiation section has a plurality of rows of the light-emitting elements arranged, and the control section is structured so as to shift to a failure time mode in which recording is executed by the rest of the rows of the light-emitting elements except the rows of the light-emitting elements belonging to the failed light-emitting elements when the failure detection section detects the failure of the light-emitting elements, and to permit as the failure time mode the relative movement speed Vt when the recording head executes recording to the recording material to be set slower than the relative movement speed Vn in the normal time mode when no failure is caused. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
