Disclosed are a method and a system for managing terminal capability information. The method comprises: when a terminal joins a network managed by a first capability information processing device at a terminal side, according to storage conditions of capability information in the first capability information processing device and a second capability information processing device at a network side, the terminal uploading capability information of the terminal; after the terminal leaves the network, the first capability information processing device backing up the capability information of the terminal, and the second capability information processing device deleting the capability information of the terminal. Also disclosed are a method and a system for discovering terminal capability information, and a device for managing terminal capability information. Through the present invention, not only can the conventional capability discovery through a server be supported, but also terminal capability inter-discovery in a local area, thereby reducing the communication and processing pressure of the network, and providing support for terminal cooperation services.
