<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair-treating agent with which attachment of a restoration ingredient to the hair is facilitated. <P>SOLUTION: A modified peptide having one or two or more kinds of side chain groups containing units selected from structures represented by formulas (I) to (III) and salts of these structures is formulated to a hair-treating agent to be applied to hair before heating. The formula (I) is -S-S-(CH<SB POS="POST">2</SB>)<SB POS="POST">n</SB>-COOH, where n is 1 or 2. The formula (II) is -S-S-CH(CH<SB POS="POST">3</SB>)-COOH.
