PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify a feature of an object by sound by mainly using a signal processing approach making the most of techniques of numerical processing.

SOLUTION: There is provided a device 30 for setting a feature identification index of an element structure, the device being characterized in including: numerical data generation means 31 using computer software for numerical data generation to generate numerical data from states of elements caused as an element change in an element structure which comprises one element or a plurality of elements and in which the one element or at least one element among the plurality of elements changes; sound data conversion means 32 converting numerical data associated with the states of the elements obtained by the numerical data generation means 31 into sound data through digital processing; and feature identification index setting means 34 extracting a feature of the element structure by subjecting the sound data obtained by the sound data conversion means 32 to pattern recognition processing, and setting the extracted feature of the element structure as an index for identifying a feature of the element structure.
