PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a write-once type information recording medium capable of easily retrieving the latest DDS and the latest defect list.

SOLUTION: At least one defect management work region is sequentially allocated to the write-once type information recording medium along a predetermined direction, and the latest defect list and the latest DDS are arranged in a recorded defect management work region adjacent to a boundary between the recorded defect management work region and an unrecorded defect management work region along the predetermined direction in the order of the latest defect list and the latest DDS.
