<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum handling apparatus which can increase the number of drums housed in a warehouse or the like, can install the drums close to the surface of a wall without applying impacts on the drums, and can install the drums close to the surface of the wall so as to be withdrawn easily. <P>SOLUTION: The drum handling apparatus includes: a pair of clamps 2 between which the drum 10 is held and from which the drum 10 is released; and a slide part for bringing the pair of clamp parts 2 close to each other and parting them from each other. The pair of clamps 2 hold both longitudinal-direction end faces 10c of the drum 10 and include a plurality of free bearings 3 which abut on both end faces 10c of the drum, respectively, and are freely rotatable.
