<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently execute data processing related to data of a recording object and the control of a drive unit related to a recording operation to suppress the occurrence of a waiting time caused by a delay in data processing. <P>SOLUTION: A control unit 40 for controlling a printer 1 includes: a data processing unit 52 for processing recording target data recorded in a recording medium; a drive control unit 53 for controlling a plurality of drive units; and a load regulation unit 54 for suppressing the control of the drive units performed by the drive control unit 53 according to a processing load on the data processing unit 52 and the drive control unit 53.
