<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photonic crystal surface-emitting laser array configured to be less susceptible to generate reflection return light, while reducing incidence of leakage light. <P>SOLUTION: The distribution feedback surface-emitting laser has a plurality of first photonic crystal regions causing laser oscillation, a second photonic crystal region causing light diffraction in the out-of-plane direction, and an optical absorber provided above the second photonic crystal region and absorbing light of wavelength λ.
