The method involves operating physical channel (BE1,BE2) of one sensor (S) connected to a bus (KB). The uniquely identifying signal is sent by sensor after operating the operated physical channel. The signal is received by a start-up program. The physical channels of sensor connected to the bus are associated with channel (BE1',BE2') in virtually represented sensor (S') based on start-up program. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) sensor; (2) start-up program; and (3) data carrier.
