<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium width aligning unit which can precisely align a medium conveyed along a medium conveying path closer to one end of the medium conveying path along a conveying direction. <P>SOLUTION: A width aligning roller 31b faces a medium conveying path 13, and is rotatably attached to a width direction of the medium conveying path 13. Further, a guide roller 32b faces the medium conveying path 13, and is attached between one end of the medium conveying path 13, and the width aligning roller 31b. A solenoid 32a is driven to a direction of separating the width aligning roller 31b and the guide roller 32b from the medium conveyed along the medium conveying path 13.
