<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal and a multimedia system capable of realizing a function, which has been realized by using a plurality of models, with one portable terminal or one portable terminal and an external terminal so as to obtain a plurality of functions with lower cost than before. <P>SOLUTION: A multimedia system 10 includes a portable information terminal 40 for functioning as a multimedia device by activating a program on the basis of resource information from the outside, and a multimedia input/output terminal 20 for providing resource information to the portable information terminal 40 and outputting data from the portable information terminal 40.
