The method involves indicating charging state using an illumination device arranged at a vehicle (1). The charging state of energy storage is displayed using a LED (2) as a light source of the illumination device. Complete charging state is displayed by a green light, partially discharging state is displayed by a yellow light and discharging state is displayed by a red light. Number of the LEDs or color is set variable depending on the charging state.
