<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of reducing both oxygen transport resistance and electronic resistance. <P>SOLUTION: A fuel cell includes: a membrane electrode assembly; a pair of gas diffusion layers holding the membrane electrode assembly; and a separator holding the membrane electrode assembly and the pair of gas diffusion layers and having a rib forming a channel serving as a gas passage on a face opposing the gas diffusion layers.
