<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an occurrence of a contour afterimage while suppressing disruption of a DC balance in an electro-optical device such as an electrophoretic display device. <P>SOLUTION: A control method of an electro-optical device includes a step of controlling driving sections 60, 70, and 220, when an image displayed on a display section 3 is rewritten from a first image P1 to a second image Pw, such that: a voltage corresponding to first gradation is applied to first pixels 20b in which gradation to be displayed changes from second gradation to the first gradation; the voltage corresponding to the first gradation is applied to second pixels 20e that have two or more sides adjacent to pixels having displayed the second gradation when the first image was displayed out of pixels in which the gradation to be displayed does not change and remains as the first gradation; and the voltage is not applied to third pixels 20ww other than the second pixels 20e out of the pixels in which the gradation to be displayed does not change and remains as the first gradation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
