An arc suppression coil is hermetically sealed to prevent the ingress of humid air, moisture, gasses and other airborne impurities to eliminate their detrimental effects on the insulation media surrounding the active core of the arc suppression coil. The hermetically sealed arc suppression coil converts automatically to an air breathing/non-hermetically sealed arc suppression coil.
